If you are a SCAN member and are not able to leave your home, SCAN and MedArrive will bring the COVID-19 vaccine to you. There is no cost for this service.
MedArrive is partnering with health systems, health plans like SCAN, and other organizations to administer in-home vaccines. Seniors and vulnerable populations are eligible to receive free in-home COVID-19 vaccinations. Highly trusted, trained, and licensed EMTs and Paramedics are dispatched on the MedArrive platform to administer free in-home vaccinations.

Do I have to pay for the in-home vaccination?
No. This service is free.
What will we need from you at your appointment?
Please be sure to bring your picture ID, Medicare card, or another insurance card to your appointment.
How many doses will I need?
MedArrive administers the vaccines that are procured by our partners. That means you could receive the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which requires only one dose, or you could receive the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, which requires two doses. When your appointment is scheduled, MedArrive will let you know which vaccine you are receiving.
How do I schedule a second dose?
A MedArrive agent will help you schedule the first and second dose while on the phone.
Can I get COVID-19 from a vaccine?
No. You cannot get covid from the vaccine.
Who will administer my vaccine?
Trusted, highly-trained, and licensed EMTs and Paramedics will be administering vaccines.
Which vaccine will MedArrive be using?
MedArrive does not procure vaccines directly. Our partners are working with local and state governments to procure vaccines so the type of vaccine could vary depending on what region you live in.
How effective is the vaccine?
Johnson & Johnson was shown to be 85% protective against moderate to severe COVID-19 infections.
Moderna vaccine was shown to be 94.5% effective at preventing symptomatic COVID-19 after the second dose.
Pfizer was shown to be 95% effective at preventing symptomatic COVID-19 infections after two doses.
Can I stop wearing a mask after I get the vaccine?
It is recommended that you maintain mask-wearing and safe social distancing, even after receiving the vaccine. Follow the CDC’s guidelines here.
Can other people in my home receive a COVID-19 vaccine?
Yes. Appointments can be scheduled for up to 6 people. All people must be present at the same address to receive the vaccination, and each person must be at least 18 years or older.
Who is eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine through MedArrive?
MedArrive is prioritizing the elderly (65+) and vulnerable populations, including those who are home-bound or may live in vaccine deserts.
When does the vaccine start working?
If you are receiving the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, you will see protection against the virus 28 days after injection.
If you are receiving the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, you will see protection against the virus 2 weeks after your second shot.
Is the vaccine considered safe?
COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective. The vaccines were evaluated in tens of thousands of participants in clinical trials and received support for Emergency Use Authorization from the FDA, which means the vaccines met the FDA’s rigorous scientific standards for safety, effectiveness, and manufacturing quality.
