Your privacy and security is very important to us. There is currently a Social Security “phishing” scam targeting your personal information and money.
Fraudsters call pretending to be government employees and claim that there is a problem with your Social Security account—such as suspected identity theft or missing information needed for you to receive benefits.
The scammers hope that by creating a stressful situation that requires you to act right away, you will provide personal information or payment.
The Social Security Administration may phone you in some situations, but they will never:
If you provided banking information on a call or see evidence of suspected fraud in your bank account, call your bank to make a report.

- Threaten to suspend your account or benefits
- Demand payment of any kind from you to resolve a situation
- Ask for personal details or banking information so that you can receive benefits, such as a Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA)
